Timoptic (Timolol Maleate)
Timoptic is used to treat glaucoma (open-angle type) and other eye conditions that cause high pressure inside the eye (such as ocular hypertension). Reduced intraocular pressure aids in the prevention of blindness. By reducing the amount of fluid in the eye, this drug does it work. It is a member of the beta-blocker drug subclass. Since it may take a few weeks for the pressure-lowering effect of Timoptic to stabilize in certain patients, evaluations should include an assessment of intraocular pressure after around 4 weeks of treatment.
